Down With The Love Planet!

We're taking our show down this weekend. We have to rent a U-haul truck to bring it all home. I eagerly anticipate having our new art back home- we've had old art hanging around the house for a month and it's really getting on my nerves. Our older art just doesn't look finished. I can see where we thought we were going with it, but that we just stopped too short from really getting there. We didn't work as hard back then on each piece like we do now.

Not to say that our newest art is any better. I'm sure in a few years I'll look back at what we've been making lately and roll my eyes for equally valid, if different, reasons.

Part of our obligation for the show was to speak to two groups of students. Each group was 400+ students. We gave a presentation about our art, life, and travel. It was an interesting experience to put ourselves on stage like that- to put our lives on stage like that. Sort of like creating your own reality t.v. show of yourself. But we did it. And it wasn't that bad. Or that embarrassing. In fact, it was kind of fun once we reminded ourselves that even if we sucked we'd still get paid. We went back the following week for a question and answer time with the students before they got tested on us. Here's a sample test of what I imagine were some of the questions:

1.) Baldwin and Mindy have 3 goats. What are their names?

2.) True or False: Baldwin and Mindy say dropping out of art school was one of the best decisions they've ever made.

3.) Multiple choice: Baldwin and Mindy's house little world is called The Lost Planet. This is because:
A. it's painted like camouflage so other people can't see it B. they don't know how to get back to their home planet C. they've lost their faith in humanity

4.) Baldwin and Mindy are Hare Krishnas. True or false?

I love the colors that I can see on the paintings and wish I could see a full shot of each one. You've done some lovely work there, my wonderfully creative friends.

It was a magnificent show! I wish you would feature one piece at a time on your blog - I especially would like more time to read and appreciate the doctor/collages - the show should have been up for another month at least. I like the idea of a virtual show.
